I'm listening to some of his old tracks and wow, are they good!
Some of the best psydub I've ever heard actually.

he started a label with someone, put out a few compilations and releases, got married, had some children and occasionally posts on Facebook, but most of the time it isn't in English, so I have no idea what he's been up to.
And yes... Excellent tunes.

I find myself asking the same question about -a lot- of great artists.
Bitstream Dream for example... ROM suddenly shuddered the entire project after over a decade, and is now focusing upon his commercial projects like video game music.
So many artist sites were last updated prior to 2004, and some not since 2001, and from my observations, the covert war on independent artists, in it's targeting of the major independent artist sites, and competing industry infrastructure, effectively cut off many artists from the artist community, and their fans, and in the loss of traffic and promotional coverage, great projects have just been abandoned, and there is no single site anymore where an artist can culture a project and arrive at the traffic levels needed to sustain it beyond just being a hobby, or a service to a small and limited group of established fans.
Then again, it has been over a decade now since the networked artist revolution, and so some have just grown old, or died, or have become disillusioned with the promise that big OMD sites once represented to those competing with the mass media cartel competition.
FingerTwister remains in high rotation here, because his electronica kicks ass, and I continue watching for anything new by Daniel, and many other talented artists who's projects have become idle in recent years.
New artists come and go all the time, but the stars that shine are those which do not disappear, and continue to produce great music over the years, who build large followings of fans by continuing to make the best music of our times and regularly releasing. These are the hardest working artists who rise to the top over time, because they are real artists, and care about their music, and their fans.
Daniel might be flattered to know his work is still so highly appreciated, even such that he might grace us with something new, to maintain his presence in the community.
We can hope.

Hey guys Thanks again for your support. It really means a lot to me!
Interesting post Synerdata.Net Radio, I also miss the golden days of mp3.com. It is harder to keep in touch now that there is no single forum that connects all indie artists, and that the music distribution seems to be so much about money nowdays. Still, that is the not main reason for me being idle. For me it has simply been about changes in my life - forming a family, having kids, moving to a house, being more dependent on my day job etc. etc. I really miss making music. I miss it a lot. But at the same time suppose you have 2 or 3 hours a few nights a week when everyone else has gone to bed, you are dead tired but that is what you have. Being creative after a long hiatus during those circumstances is not really easy. After all, making music is about having fun, at least it is for me.
What I am trying is to find another way of working. I have always been a perfectionist, wheighting everything I do on a golden scale. That does not work anymore, I have to start DOING stuff, not thinking.
Furthermore I have sort of less interest in making music in itself. I have always dreamed about making some sort of interactive multimedia experience, sort of like an interactive music video (or perhaps more like a demo if you are familliar with the demoscene). I am reading a lot about 3D programming right now so we will see where it leads me. Back to the basics so to speak. When I was a kid I was fascinated by the demoscene and that eventually led me to start making music. Now I am trying to close the circle so to speak.
Anyhow I will try to start being more active on the forums. That is a good way to get inspired.
See you soon I hope!
/Daniel

Even without kids I don't have much energy for art after a ten hour work day, so I can sympathize.
Hope you find time to make some more tunes Daniel, if not I'll still be listening to your old ones.

I imagine that's lead you to Blender? It's probably the Number One item on everybody's list of "Software I Really Have To Master, Someday."
I've got some promising-looking documentation bookmarked, but my current excuse for not knuckling down and learning it is that the next version is said to boast a redesigned user interface.
Also, I have a store-bought copy of Bryce on my MacOs 9.2 laptop, for when I need something 3D in a pinch.

I suggest getting into the Unreal Game engine - you can extend it, there's already a sweet scripting system, a material system, physics, video, audio, etc., lots of documentation, a good book on working with the engine, as well as tutorial vids - and it is... free to use now

Guys A quick update... I might be doing some music pretty soon. Without disclosing too much info I am hired to do some ambient music to some Blu-Ray-presentations. Should be fun, but I must admit I am a bit nervous too - it has been quite some time.
I will keep you posted!
And I will post the music here later on (but I am not sure it will be enjoyable without the video).
Take care guys and thanks again for the support. Not sure I would have taken this project otherwise (big ups to you Sub!)

I wouldn't worry about this project at all Daniel. You're a natural pro with music, so I know it'll work out great for you.

Looking forward to hearing these tunes when they get posted. Good luck!
Drug use for children has for many an education and with obvious alarm to both parents on the increase almost yearly.
