so, is it appropriate or unappropriate to make a couple of requests for the new forum?
in case it's appropriate:
- I miss being able to see who posted last in a topic when browsing the individual forums.
- Is there an easy way to make it so that while responding to a post you could still see the rest of the thread? or is this no longer a desired function?

I'll see if I can output the username on the forum page, which is listing all the threads - that's where you are referring to, correct?

it creates a lot of overhead on the database to output a whole thread like how PHPBB does. Certainly it's possible, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea right now. The forums is now using my database server, so I'll need to see how much weight it's added. If the stress is minimal, then yes, I'll be able to add this feature.
And yes, feel free to point out what you'd like to see added or changed - that's the way we work around here
