Yup... it's turkey day. A long weekend here for us Canookies. Monday is the official holiday.
I finished work this morning at 7:00am and I don't have to be back 'til Monday at 11:00pm.
I love this weekend. It and Xmas are about the only time our families, both mine and Leanne's, can all get together in one place. My family on Saturday and Leanne's family on Sunday. Lots of great food, tons of turkey of course, loads of booze and a ton of talk (mostly the usual bullshit "so, how's it goin.?" kinda talk), but at least were talkin'. Despite how disfunctional we all are, it's always fun. You never know what's gonna happen. Especially after Mom's had a few glasses of Chardoney.
And the weather looks especially good for Sunday. 23c and loads of sunshine. Perfect weather for being outside.
So... yeah... Happy Thanksgiving, my friends!!!

Nice
We enjoy our family time too. I feel very fortunate that my family all gets along and we see each other as friends and family.
Have a great time
I'm sure I could look it up on the Web, but could you tell me more about the Canadian Thanksgiving? Does it refer to an event?

You betcha...
Our Thanksgiving is in honour of the official start to hockey season.
No, no... j/k
Seriously, man... for some folks religion plays a small part, and lots of folks get involved in community/charity type stuff (raising money for cancer research is a major focus these days). Others close up their cottages/trailers. Some people do absolutely nothing at all. But for us it's all about family. It's all about being together and celebrating surviving another year on this mortal coil.

My family started a cool tradition about 5 years ago. My sister and I were complaining that Thanksgiving was becoming the most stressed Holiday for my Mom. She was insisting on all the crystal and china and silver and linen and we were supposed to get dressed up....blech! Together we have 7 dogs and we rarely get together...man, we wanted to relax and party! So we tried something different, got Mom out of her element, and rented a cabin in the mountains for the four day weekend. It worked! Now we go there each Thanksgiving, we rent three little cabins in a row so we each have our own space to retreat to but are within yards of each other. This year we are going to make the Thanksgiving meal a 'tour' of the cabins. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served in my sister's cabin, the main meal will be served in my parent's cabin, and dessert and coffee/espresso will be served in ours. Whee! I imagine us drunk and doing a 'conga-line' from cabin to cabin through the woods!
You gotta love a four day weekend dedicated to eating!

Sounds like a lot of fun, Lou.
We had a great weekend here. The weather was perfect. Couldn't have asked for better weather. Loads of sunshine. Tons of great food. Lots of laughs. Everyone had a great time.
