Hi folks - anyone still have my first CD?

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I last popped by, but I was wondering if anyone still had a copy of my first CD demo/album, which I gave away back in 2001, called AudioMicroDevice? I lost all those tracks in a HD crash ages ago, and following the unveiling of my little download store, I'd like to get some remastered vintage tracks on there, for fun.
So if anyone still has a fully working CD copy of it, or wav CD rips, I'd love to hear from you. Please send me an email through my site here.
Thanks, Chris.

all but track 15 ripped - there was a bad sector in that track
it's 723mb - do you want to send me a msg w/ an FTP account on your site to upload it? This is too big to put as a download on ArtistServer.

Hi Gideon,
Yes please--if you could upload it to your ftp space and let me know how to access it (email or PM) that would be fantastic. Thanks very much for taking the time to do this, it's hugely appreciated.
Which track was track 15? I can barely remember what was on there to be honest, and the discogs entry only has 14 tracks.

sorry - just been a bit busy with work/life/play
I'll zip the wavs and see about uploading today.
the last track... can't recall now, as the cover didn't have the songs listed - when i did the rip - the songs were in the online database - so it displayed the title, I just can't recall. I think it was an alternate edit of one of the other songs.
I think your music really captured something a few yrs back - when I listen, I'm back at the old ElectronicScene - yet. the tracks don't sound old at all... still fresh
How are the digital downloads going? Have you found it to be worth your effort? My research on indie digital downloads showed me that hardly anyone was making money, only a very small percentage. The majority tend to have less than $20-25 worth of sales per year. For $20, it doesn't seem like a good idea, that it would be better to just make the music free and reach more people. What's your experience in this area?

No probs, Gideon--I've noticed the zip sitting on my server; I'm downloading now! Thanks so much for your help!
As for the store, yeah I doubt I'll buck that trend to be honest. All the tracks are still available for free download in their entirety at 128kbps/22.05kHz, with the option to purchase at 320kbps/44.1 mp3 and lossless FLAC. So far since opening the store three weeks ago, I've made $70 minus the $27 monthly fee for E-Junkie--I'll be happy to break even each month, and put any profit towards the next UAD-1 plugin or my own music purchases.
I perhaps ought to look into making my own automated download and email scripts, to keep the overheads low, but at the moment I have no idea where to start on that front, and so E-Junkie fits the bill for now.
It's just an experiment and a bit of fun at the moment, but I can see myself releasing album out-takes through my own store in between future CD/album releases. I like the idea of offering whole tracks for free though; I think you need to provide whole tracks for free rather than expecting people to shell out after hearing a crummy 30s clip (*cough* iTunes), as otherwise they'll head straight for their local torrent site or (increasingly) illegal mp3 blog. I guess I'm just trying to make it as easy as possible for folks to hear my music, in the hope they'll come back for the higher quality versions.
I had a thought a while back about donations--I had previously set up a button for donations--much the same as everyone else does, but probably only ever had half a dozen donations. I realised it's perhaps probably not that people don't want to pay for the music, but that the whole scenario of feeling like a street beggar with my hat held out, pleading for some spare change doesn't really sit well with people. Even though I'm offering the same music that was available for free before (and is still free now), people seem more receptive to paying for something at a clearly defined price, when they know what they're getting, rather than having me guilt trip them in order to paypal a few bucks to me.
Yeah, I do remember the old days on the EBB very fondly--I couldn't wait to get new music written so I could upload and share it; that kind of immediate feedback buzz has definitely caused me to think long and hard about signing my music off to labels, which basically removes that immediacy due to the drawn out nature of a physical release. It's another reason why I got the download store up--if I can ever get that much new material written anyway!
Thanks again Gideon, Tecknixia.

Works around San Francisco.
You could see it that way too, or the alternative. I was just tipped 50 euros about a month ago from a guy in the Netherlands. He wanted to use a track for a university project and I said go for it... two days later BAM!
I'm liking the tip feature.
But that's my experience with it so far. Better than any tip I've gotten working as a doorman really.

Hi Ochre- really liked Lemodie btw.
This is off-topic, but just to say thanks for the insight into how you (as a "signed/better-known artist") are approaching digital distribution. I've considered the free downloads/ donation route, but I've got the same concerns (ie appearing like a digital beggar :lol). Its nice to hear $50 tips do happen though...
Anyway I'll be checking out your website, I've only heard your more recent material so def. interested in those old tracks. Cheers,
Alastair
