Truckdriver's Gear Change

Fun writing! Cool, right on.
"Reality leaves a lot to the imagination, but crossing the road with your eyes closed is easy" -John Lennon - “What relates to reality, is not certain; and what is certain, is not real.” --Albert Einstein

Laughing nice!

I recall noticing this before I got into writing and recording music, and that in my mind, I referred to it as the Step Up, as I had no idea about key changes, but could definitely feel that the music was stepping up in some way. And yes, it's a cheesy move.

Haha, reminds me of the function on the Yamaha RM1x called "Transpose" with which you could do this type of key change automatically. Never found it useful.
Most recent track: Tecknixia - Technology 2009 Version Strm Dnld

"Energizer bunny arrested- charged with battery."

-The Misfits - Teenagers From Mars
-Nikki and the Corvettes - Summertime Fun
-Nazis Punks from Mars - So You wanna be a fucking popstar

Oh dear. What were Kiss reduced to by 1987? Nowadays they probably excuse this on the basis that "hey, it was the 1980s". Still, the gear changes in this song (there are two, one half-way through and the other at the end) are vintage.

There are no fancy disguises, no extravagant build-ups or agonising breaks, just the innocent pleasure of the following simple formula:

chorus + chorus + gear change + chorus + chorus = tragedy + time

I love the way, after the gear change has happened, the singer (I'm told it's Paul Stanley, rather than Gene Simmons) goes "Come on!" – I have a mental image of him in the studio, cans atop his head, turning to the other guys in the band, shrugging his shoulders with a sheepish look in his eyes which says "hey it's not my fault – everyone's doing it these days". Closely followed, of course, by a whoop of delight as the song launches into a monstrously widdly guitar solo.
