Upgraded Artist Accounts get free ad space

I'm pleased to announce an update to our Upgraded Artist Accounts which GREATLY increases the visibility of artists and value of an upgraded account at no additional cost.
How? Free ad space on ArtistServer!
I have replaced some of the ad spaces on ArtsitServer.com with banners that promote 4 artists at a time. Each artist promotional spot includes the artist name, a portion of the artist description, a play button to play the songs by the artist, in addition to the artist avatar image.
Here are the locations where we now feature artists:

If you consider all the sub pages for the links above, the featured artists banner will be on several hundred pages.

Each time one of these featured artists banners loads, it selects 4 artists with account upgrades at random.
To get in on this, all you need to do is upgrade your artist account, or, if you don't have an artist account yet, join the site, then upgrade via PayPal from the Settings/MyAccount area: http://www.artistserver.com/MyAccount/index.cfm?mc=10 - an artist account upgrade is only $40 USD per year. Other music sites charge 4x more just for the ad space I just added at no additional cost.
As we gain more upgrade accounts, I'll be able to make the featured artist banner be more contextual, for example, if you are viewing the Drum-n-Bass chart, you would only see featured artists who have released Drum-n-Bass songs.
I hope those with upgraded accounts are pleased, and those without upgraded accounts will take advantage of this opportunity.

Only complaint I have is the 'Browse local'-section on the right of the artistpage; there's a lot of rubbish in the list, like non-existing cities......

Hi ABC - is this the first time you've seen the Local page?
The listing you see on the Local page is what the artists and members enter... a general drawback to allowing users to enter their own content. There isn't much I can do about it beyond editing every account with an odd looking city name.

No, not really, but it has been a while since I last visited the Local page....I was wondering...how is the content generated?

All content is from the artists and members on the site. In your settings, there is a place to enter your city and country, and for US ppl, you can select the state. The local area displays all the same content found elsewhere on the site, but is sorted/grouped by location.

yes - and the only way out of it would be to acquire a database table of every city on Earth, and have users select from available cities instead of entering them.
Fortunately, it is only an issue in the Local Section of the site - which to be honest, isn't viewed too much - but I added the artist ads there just to provide more hits to the ads.
