I don't know anything about Windows Vista, but apparently it's gonna come pre-installed on my new laptop.

Windows Vista is Microsoft's invitation for everyone to install a linux distro or move to a Mac.

Yeah, no kidding, Gideon.

This OS is nothing but BLOATWARE.

Well I now finally have everything working under Vista - basically Echo Layla + Cakewalk + UAD card + Waves + NI Komplete + bits & pieces. Yay! Back to where I was with XP a year ago. Hmmm.

I'm running Vista on my main workstation - I built a new PC back in Nov/Dec last year. So far - I don't really like it. It took awhile to go though and turn off all the annoying things. Then I made the mistake of buying an ATI video card... and their drivers just don't play so well w/ Vista. I have yet to move my music apps over - mainly due to Line6 and their complicate process for handling licenses for their hardware and software. These companies are so paranoid about ppl ripping them off - and all they do is annoy the customer.
I wish I could afford to buy a mac. I have one - but it's a macbook laptop - kinda old.

I nominate Waves for the most obnoxious software protection - a veritable maze of authorizers, enablers and synchronizers must be negotiated.
