First off...

How's things...!?
Spotted this lil' item on Matrixsynth blog last week and thought I'd giv'er a try. A LFO-driven MIDI arpeggiator, gate effect and step sequencer for mangling MIDI input chords.

Fired it up in "stand-alone" mode and used it to arp my X5D while I jammed out on the AN200. It's a very intiuitive lil' app. Very quickly, and with very lilttle effort, I ended up with some interesting results not least of which was this quick and dirty ditty:
Friday the 13th jam
If you aren't already using it, you can get the hypercyclic plugin here:
http://www.mucoder.net/hypercyclic/
It's free... at least for now.

I also picked up one of these lately:

I know there are tons of controllers on the market, but most or all are too expensive for what they do and these (from 2004) are so cheap (got mine for $50) that I couldn't resist. It was worth it. It's about the size of two paperback novels end-to-end. I have complete control over my midi setup and have been having a blast with it.
Anywho...
That's all for now.

Great, thanks for the heads up on the midi arpeggiator, been looking for something like this for awhile now.
That controller looks nice. Does your software synths midi learn it easy enough?

Absolutely. No problems with it at all. Buttons, knobs, cross-fader... all of the softies I use work perfectly with it. And the ability to use midi-in on it is perfect for recording any hardware that sends midi data during playback. You know... for automating certain things so your fingers are free to do other things.

approx... 12in X 5in X 2in
It works well as a "hand-held" unit too. It's nice and light. Pick it up and hold it like a XBox/PS3 type controller and you notice right away the bottom is shaped so you can grip it and move the cross fader easily with your left thumb. The buttons on the right line up perfectly with your right thumb. Holding it with one hand while you stand and tweak works as well.

THat looks like a handy plug in, nice little jam session too! Is the atmosphere in the background whats being generated by the plug in, if so thats sweet, i feel like i always default to pretty boring pads for atmosphere, something like that sounds much more interesting.

Yup. The whole track consists of presets with me simply fucking around to see what this lil' pluggy was capable of. Very handy indeed.....

This one was worth pointing out simply 'cause it works so well in "stand alone" mode. As I'm a jam junky and an improv addict it works especially well for that sort of thang... IYKWIM...
