Actually, actually i checked his tracks and one of them was really good, almost had me investing some shares in him, hehe... Laughing

The guy seems to have talent and originality, wow $ 50 000 is a lot of money so maybe he´ll become famous now and the major´s will be running like mad to sign him? Laughing

Thanks for the "bump" and reply to my PM Gideon ! Very Happy

Brills, where you been at man? Confused I never heard from you after the pm sent from here, although I hope the error message didn't mean it wasn't sent. It occurs from time to time (page not found etc...)

I hope all is well with you! Got me worried there for a sec....Smile

I hope all is well with you too!

Sorry for not being around or answering your PM, been hibernating and dealing with everyday life. Sad

I´ll send you a PM right now. Cool, right on.

Nah man, the internet music/mp3 scene has been too crowded in general for years. The amount of artists who genuine interest - more than just a couple of releases on tiny indies - through the internet is still incredibly small, and the percentage of record sales through mp3 are still tiny in comparison to hard format (and not growing at the rate some parts of the media want us to believe). Even the Arctic Monkeys, who keep getting heralded here in the UK as 'band made big through MySpace hit number one!' and that, were a group with a large local fanbase whose MySpace page was set up by a fan to share leaked demos and live tracks. The whole internet revolution isn't really here... yet.
Which isn't to say services like this won't help it on its way. But... I dunno. I can't personally imagine getting much satisfaction out of being signed up to Sellaband.

But...would you be interested in signing a contract anywhere?

Yeah, with the right label. I just don't like the whole 'needing 5,000 believers' thing at first. Seems bizarre. And giving away all your work for free on mp3? Meh. Don't do that, either. As I've said around here many a time, for me a record is a piece of art itself, the CD, artwork and so on. I like a sense of ownership when I have a record, and it feels like I've earned it. Free mp3s of everything just feels like watching TV through a TV shop window or saying you've got the Mona Lisa because there's a jpg of it on your computer.
I'm still looking for the right record label, but I'm more than happy to sign a contract and release albums and tour, the same way everyone else has in the past.

Agreed, but I think it'll be hard to find a label that gives you absolute freedom concerning all aspects of a release...

So...maybe release something yourself??

My final year project this year is setting up a label, I think the first thing we're putting out is going to be Vacuum Road Songs.
Of course, I'm largely talking about my band with stuff like this... whenever we get something approaching recordable material I'll be looking for a smaller indie label, and there's often little trouble with creative freedom there. At least, according to most of the records I own...

i wouldn't say this is the future of music. also a lot can happen within 12 years of you having no control of your music. this reminds a lot like american idol with their 'Sell Your Soul' contracts as i like to call them. you get to make music and get paid for your own music but you're also getting paid to not have any say in how much your music could be butchered and destroyed. right?

cheers.
