New music and paintings to go with it!

Been doing loads of re-mastering lately...(or rather playing around with Izotope's Ozone and getting some results that sound OK ) The latest batch of tracks date from 2000 and are a bit rough...but I like them. Got a nice cinematic soundtrack feel, (which was the intended purpose). Listening to them again inspired me to produce some paintings to go with them, as they do sort of conjure up images... I did three tracks based around "The Thing" and they draw heavily on John Carpenter's ultra cheesy but very cool old school electronic soundtrack style (incorporating the bleak Ennio Morricone soundscapes) So there is another one to go! Anyway here's the links: http://media.artistserver.com/tracks/138/19403/1/1/1/SA_Fred_-_Alien_Worlds_8_Frozen_Creature.m3u
http://media.artistserver.com/tracks/138/19349/1/1/1/SA_Fred_-_Alien_Worlds_7_Antarctic_Derelict.m3u

Enjoy!
Cheers, Pete
PS I'm working on my painting technique, so hopefully they should improve! I need an inspiring project to get me doing this stuff outside of work.

Hi Peter,
These tracks sound really great. Nice bit o' mixing!

Antarctic Derelict is definitely my fav.
Nice paintings too. Sparse but full of detail at the same time.

P.S. your Landforms D.A.M. from way back in the day is still a personal fav. It came to me as a recommendation from Stefan Koopmanschap and it was definitely worth getting.

Woah. I can easily see why you uploaded at 320kpbs. This is great stuff for an opening of a sci-fi film.
Haven't gotten to the other track yet, but this's fantastic. Reminds me of the game StarCraft from the paintings a lil bit.

Both tracks are cool but I prefer 'Alien Worlds 8 Frozen Creature'. Love that bassline
Nice homage to John Carpenter and his masterpiece 'The Thing' btw, one of my all time favorite movies

Very effectively atmospheric. I am reminded of Icotec a little, in the sort of icy sci-fi feel. (hi Pete!)

Hi Guys, Cheers for the feedback, I shall reciprocate and check out your latest material I'm due for a bit of a review fest!
Subtronic Thanks for that link, I checked out that guys work...very nice indeed, and he's got a nice loose technique...I'm aiming to get as confident in painting as that. And "The Thing", yes indeed a classic movie, also one of my fav's love the bleakness of it visually and in the soundtrack. That was one of the things I tried to capture.
Stereofect Thanks for your comment on the mixing, these tracks were done many years ago when I was just wetting my feet in the computer music production thing, (I'd used multitracks previously) as said they are a bit rough, but I think the Ozone mastering has added some nice polish, perhaps glossed over the scratches and imperfections Antarctic Derelict was the last one of the three I produced...its the most sountracky one Yes "Landforms" I'm glad you like it...it was produced during my Kraftwerk moment I've just done another remix EP based Parts 3, 5, and 6. 6 New tracks produced using the original sound sources only (albeit filtered and heavily reworked). Part 1 can be streamed on my page.
Kylo Yes I went for the quality...sorry about the filesize!...Now if only they do a sequel to the Thing
A Bit Crusher Cheers mate, I must check out your stuff, don't think I've had the pleasure as yet
Mercurial Yes its got a bit of an icey feel thats for sure, I know what you mean Icotec does get that cold world feeling quite nicely...
Cheers again all, I'll be uploading one more "Thing" inspired track another painting hopefully in the next few days.

Hey Pete - send me your email! I have lost it (again).
Am listening to these now...
Ozone, yes I've played with that one too. Excellent for squishing things. In a good way.
Excellent tracks both of them - I always love the old bladerunneresque scifi retro mystique thing that you manage to capture.
So did you end up moving to Bath?

Hello Glenn, Nice to hear from you! Its been a bit of a while! Yes retro Blade Runner-esque would be a good description Comes from years of listening to Vangelis, I think I've got his 1980 to 1985 production sonic palette ingrained into my subconscious. And yes I'm loving Ozone and its sound squishing potential, still got a long way to go with it, but its enjoyable to use, pretty intuitive for my simple mind...one day, I'll get around to using the multi band compressors properly and stop relying on the loudness maximizer! I'll drop you a line, be good to catch up.
Cheers, Pete
