Damn... this gas shortage thing is killin' me....

Or rather, it's putting a very large dent in my bank account.....

Bought 35 litres of gas (about 9 gallons) today and it cost me $35.

Woah WTF!?

This gasoline shortage we're experiencing here in Ontario (and the rest of Canada) right now is getting crazy. A CN Rail strike, a huge fire at a Imperial Oil refinery near hamilton last week (or maybe it was two weeks ago I can't remember). Gas stations all over the place (Toronto is the worst) are running out of gas and can't get more shipped in. Some stations are already closed. It's been like this for over a week now. I had to drive around town this morning (wasting fuel) to find a service station that still had gas available. Station I did find open said they estimate they have enough for two days. Prices are crazy!!!

$1.00 a litre!?!

It's like some end-of-the-world sci-fi novel.....

crazy

I have to make six more trips to work and back this week (about 300kms) and I figger right now I have enough to do that plus get us around during the weekend. I should be good 'til Sunday. I can usually get about 450kms out of a tank of gas this time of year.

Damn... I gotta find a job closer to home.

. . . or buy a motorcycle?

We're spending MUCH more time in our leetle Plymouth Horizon than in our Blazer these days . . . with no end in sight. Good luck to ya, friend!

Oil is a priviledge, not a right. I don't drive as I feel it is going to kill the earth if we don't all try and do our bit.

$1.00 a litre seems like a bargain to me especially if you compare that to European prices that come in at about double that.

I know we all have our immediate needs (such as paying the rent/bills), but humanity's addiction to the black stuff must be addressed by all of us, especially North Americans, who could also use adhering to the Kyoto agreement.

Hey hey guys- Smile

Two words:

Come on.

Sell your car, buy an electric jacket; get one of these puppies.

& I said "COME ON!

I used to ride my bicycle everywhere before I had a car- living miles from town doing the 'reduce my carbon footprint' idea, and averaging at 20 miles per hour is an insanely beautiful thing to a cyclist. (except the ones that wear spandex inside their ass cheex) Razz

Now I know Canada's cold- there should be more oil for them but hell, I wish that the U.S. in general would cut the crap and start getting a little more efficient. It really pisses me off to see my little cousin looking for a big dumb diesel truck to buy because his girlfriend "kind of likes" them. I know he's not going to be doing any hauling or driving anywhere "rugged" except for his skinny ass down the highway to his friends' places...

TOOLS Anger - grrrrrr!

I let him know, I'm not passive aggressive.
Ummm... what?

(then you get tagged as a hippy from the deepest depths in the mind of sheeple) labels- hard to avoid; yet silently applied.

Then you've gotta add a couple of those 25cc wheels to this pimp mobile and you're set.

and for those cold rainy places up north, buy some

And peel off in the summer months. Smokin'!

Did I mention duct tape?

North America is nowhere near as compact as Europe. Commuting is a given. Alternative solutions (devised by urban enviromentalists) are often unworkable and unrealistic in rural areas.

Kyoto is a joke... and needs to be seriously ratified!!

Those who signed on, like Canada, will pay dearly (in unrealistic tax dollars) in the form of credits to the real polluters (like USA, China, India, Russia, Aus, et all...) who continue to build hundreds of coal fired hydro-electric generators. Yeah... makes sense to me... Rolling Eyes

And don't even get me started on this whole "global warming" bull shyza....

cheers

I hear where you are coming from!

Just about 3 to 4 years ago I was doing a Dallas, Texas to Sacramento, Ca. turnaround for about $1200.00 fuel (diesel) cost per loop, (5 days work - 3600 miles round trip). Now ...

I am spending $2,000.00 per loop for fuel on the same run, same miles!

The part that gets me is, the difference in the cost of fuel in each state. In Oklahoma I can get fuel for about $2.27 per gallon. West of there is gets higher and the more west I go it even gets higher! For instance, Ca. fuel is over $3.00 per gallon!

I don't pay the inflated prices alone, I charge it to my customers but all that does is raise the price to the end users! I don't know

It's a no win, no win situation here man!

Hi everyone, good to be at the studio for a few days!
