You know - for a forum that has such specific "whats groovy to post and not to post" rules - it really should be laid out clear to people who post for the first time a set of do's and don'ts in the form of a sticky or READ BEFORE POSTING THREAD.
It would be nice to see this place buzzing again and although it is ticking over it seems a shame that nearly everyone who seems to post for the first time gets shot down by someone contravening specific terms for posting that have been born over a culture of the past 7 or 8 years but as yet haven't been specifically laid out for new users.

Hey check me out, I'm a worldwide seller!! I don't give a shit about you or your forum, just boost my ego and get me off! How many copies do you want to buy?
This place needs more than a 'first time poster' announcement, it needs a history lesson.

sure mr. K - we'll whip out some rules soon. My feeling, is that the people who should read rules, are those who do not.

Damn, too lazy to even post a freakin link!!
Edit: btw, the song sucks... sounds like "Picasso Trance"...
Hey dude, IF you happen to come back and check this thread, my advice to you is to try to make the sounds flow well together and complement each other. This song sounded like a progressive trance DJ with ADD. The beginning sounded like two records being mixed... unless you're really going for that sound, try avoid that by making sure the sounds complement each other and not clash. Also, don't just drop a sound and pick a new one up... try fading them in and out.
Oh... and DON'T try to sell your music just yet. I know I wouldn't buy it, would you?

Not exactly a warm welcome, but then this place can be like that.

DK has a point. A "read before getting burned" post would prob'ly help, but most likely wouldn't.....
As for the tracks:
IMHO (such that it is) the tracks come off as more electronica than trance, though "Trance to Freedom" does come close. They have a amateurish feel to them. Not very polished. Unless that's what he's going for. As a listener I'm a little confused by the conflicting themes in both tracks. Especially with Trance to Freedom. It's like there's two tracks flowing in and out of each other that compete for equal billing but don't quite succeed and then it just.....

That's what I meant to say... I'm not usually that mean, lol.

The way it's setup over at IDM Forums is you have to post at least ten times to start a thread about your music.
It's a good way to weed out spammers.

Okay guys, I get it, you don't appreciate orginal Electronic music here, so I have removed my tracks off of this site permanently I have over 10,000 music fans world wide that would dis-agree with your comments about my music, if you don't like it don't listen to it Why is it that I get world wide radio play on my tracks and you think they suck?? Hmmm who is really the expert here??? I am out of here...........................

Asnazzy, I'm sorry this didn't go well, but I don't think it is a reason to take your songs off the site. So what if a few people on the forums don't like your song, it doesn't mean every person who visits this site will feel the same. I hope you'll reconsider, and place your songs back on the site.
Hopefully adding some general forum rules helps keep situations like this from happening in the future.

Sorry man, I mean... you didn't say you made original sounding music... in fact, you didn't say much. We hardly know anything about you except that you like to sell music. I thought you were specifically trying to make a progressive trance song, with a progressive trance structure... and I was honestly trying to give you some pointers.
You don't have to remove your tracks and leave the site just to make your point. If you want to hang around and let us know a little more about you, I might be open to listening to more. How is just packing your bags and leaving going to benefit you at all?

Yes we do. Be sure to let us know if you produce any...

Don't face your critics head on. Run from them and pretend they don't exist.

Unfortunately you don't understand that we HAVE to listen to your tracks in order to form an opinion. Which you wanted and we did. Sorry it put a dent in your ego.
Quote:Why is it that I get world wide radio play on my tracks and you think they suck??
Radio play doesn't impress anyone here. Your tracks just don't fit the street cred you seem to think they have. Which is what I'm sure most folks here thought.

All of us and none of us. That includes you!

PR would mean the site requested or paid for the above responses, which the site certainly did not.
========================
Guys - next time, can we take it a bit easy, and not be harsh. I think we all know by now when someone is or isn't going to participate in the forums. And when we see that someone is basically just posting promotions, it's fairly easy to ignore them if it bothers you.
Most of us are from an older generation of Web users, comparing our perspective to that of a generation who communicates via txt messages - limited to 140 characters. I think we have to keep that in mind more and more, as we move forward and younger people join the site.
Again, I hope the addition of a few forum rules will help improve the communications here for both new and old users alike.
