Online Radio - Synerdata.Net - Indie Electronic
Created on: 03/13/09 12:33 PM Replies: 7

I suggest checking out this online radio station: Synerdata.Net

website: http://synerdata.net/

Gordon, the person behind the station is a big supporter of indie electronic music. He's been at it since the mp3.com days, starting his station in 1999.

And... he plays a lot of music and artists from this site Very Happy

I'm listening now, and he just played Icotec, and followed with a Subtronik track - nice!

Check it out! Cool, right on. Cool, right on.

Thanks Gideon,

I look forward to reviewing everything, by everyone here, in the time ahead.

I encourage my fellow artists to make use of this promotional venue, for as an
artist, myself, it was built specifically (and originally) for getting the incredible
music of the mp3com artist community to the general public, and to link people
directly to their favorite artists, and I have a passion for ensuring all artists who
take their work seriously, and work hard, receive the airtime that their efforts
and artwork deserve, that no good song should go unappreciated or hidden.

The station has a long, and vibrant community service history, and it is a work
of love, and I am really easy to work with, where artists have programming
they wish to air, and so don't be afraid to leverage this promotional venue,
or to request or propose uses for airtime, according to your promotional needs.

At irregular intervals I harvest all the latest releases (in electronica) and strive
to put everything of merit on the air, and delight to lift up those artists who are
just starting out, and developing their skills, and when reviewing, I usually listen
to each song on an artist's page (including non-electronica) and download all
that should be appreciated, and blend in the non-electronic music I harvest as
well.

For the current program, I browsed all the artists at the site, and downloaded
all that is new by those whom I am already familiar with, and I produced a kick-ass
show which is on the air presently, and following this, I am planning to proceed to
visit the pages of those artists I am not yet familiar with, to get them on air here,
and would also proceed to watch the new releases feed. I try not to miss anything
good by anybody.

The mixing system and style for the station is very straightforward, and the
tracks are mixed by subjective continuity, and then by style, so that they form
subject strands, and I play most any subject, and free speech is vigorously
represented here, and all views and perspectives.

As a developing artist, Synerdata Radio has been my passion as a community
service, to get the music before the masses, and to connect them to these,
but I have built it to be -your- station as well, and so feel free to brainstorm
for your promotional needs, and then let me know what you would like to do
on the air.

I encourage the community to listen. When the artists are listening, the station
rises in the Shoutcast.com Electronica Station Charts, increasing your
exposure and site traffic, and personal song chart standings, and more accurately
reflective of the great quality of music and artists featured, and where everyone
is working together promoting one another, amazing things begin to happen.

The station features around the clock live programming, and original station
software for announcing and promotion, and I am usually here, and on the air,
when not otherwise working on my own music for my own artist listing in my
own name as an artist.

Once again, thanks for the warm welcome, Gideon.

I have been made to feel like I am finally home in setting down here now in this
incredible journey through the best independent music of the 21st century, and
I look forward to hearing everyone's work, and ensuring others do as well!

Hi Gordon,

I run something similar to Synerdata Radio called K-Radio, that also plays a rotation of independent music using a Shoutcast radio server, though with more of an emphasis on down-tempo and beats.

As an independent artist myself I wish there were more people doing this type of thing so thanks from me for all you work over the years. I like the supportive website as well (though I always have!! lol)

Hey Danny k!

Thanks for speaking up, I would not want to miss hearing your station!

They really are an important part of the independent industry infrastructure,
like the "last mile" of fiber, so to speak, it's important that the music reaches
the general public's ears "out there".

I'll be listening, and I'll comment again later on your show!

Cheers!

-Gordon

Hey Danny K,

I am just listening to your station!

It sounds excellent, for 80k-Mono... perhaps because you have it at 44khz.

I notice you do not have the artist names listed, or are they all your own work?

If you need a good label maker, I suggest TAGSCANNER, which is what I use here,
it does everything.

Thanks man - sadly I am a Mac Man so can't use this facility. I got half-way to doing a php equivalent but didn't quite finish it. There is a supportive website here though so people can download the stuff - though only the stuff I have worked on (which makes up about 50% of the station). There are plans to expand this - but then again there are always plans. Laughing

Yeah, it's a lot of work, that's for sure. I thought in 2002 when I moved this radio show
from the original mp3com to streaming live from my studio here, that it may take a few
months, and then I should be on to working on my 'new' album... I am still working
on that 'new' album... Building and running the station practically displaced the
artwork that I myself had long-ago intended to promote upon it myself, as an artist...

But doing the track labels is the hardest part, next to the actual reviewing everything
new and harvesting all the best, it can take the longest amount of time to manually do
all the track labels to include the artist's urls, but the value it brings for everyone, is to
have died for, and so I keep doing it. I consider it the single most important promotional
thing an artist can do, visibly including artist site and download url's right in the songs,
for it can lift an artist to the top of the charts at their OMD site, by including them, so that
on all stations that play the music, everyone that hears it can visit the artists for it.

I'll let you know if I come across an ID3-Tag program for the MAC!

Cheers!
