Some Kind Of Music I Don't Know The Genre Of
Created on: 09/30/06 02:33 PM Replies: 6

Hey, all of you guys, here's a question:

how do you call the music that has the beat of a few sounds of industrial materials, like pipes, and chains, and all those things, and then you create a very cool beat with it...does anyone know how that kind of music is called?

Apprecciated,
Antyla

Hi Antyla~ um... Well, you could certainly call it industrial techno, or just plain industrial. Or, you could just post the tune up and give us a link because I'm willing to give you a listen if you'd like. Cool, right on.

Also, A lot of times it is hard to tell what is what when it comes to music... Usually, for me- I will post a tune up on the site and call it electronica because it's completely made from electronic sounds; but sometimes I'll call it downtempo simply because there's a hard bass beat on 1 of each measure.

You could say expirimental, industry, etc. No one's really a big judge on what is what. My brother calls my music RPG- he doesn't even know what the acronym stands for, (neither do I) but he deliberatly insists that that is what it is; simply because he worked at a student radio station for a university. crazy

It's basically whatever. (my opinions) But, a good way to get a better image of yourself is to see what kind of people download your tunes by clicking on your song picture (brings down a list to see who's been listening in) and then you can click on their icons and check out what kind of music they're into. Simply, from that you could distinguish how to classify your musak. Smile

kylo - Antyla has a member account so I don't think s/he has a song to post. I think the person is looking to download music with those elements.

Antyla - I have a track build from hitting pipes and various pieces of metal in my yard, along with crunchy leaves and bubbling chaos from the hose Smile - but I don't think that's what you are looking for - it's more experimental that a track with a 'beat'

I think there are probably examples of found industrial noise being incorporated into beats in almost every subgenre of electronic music. A lot of IDM uses unconventional percussion, but often so do techno and certainly industrial. Hard to pinpoint a single genre.

Kylo - Are you sure you don't make RPM music? I don't know what that specifically stands for either, but it is undoubtedly the overarching college radio category encompassing all electronic subgenres. I used to be an RPM manager... It's basically just promoter-speak.

Must be a college thing. Rolling Eyes I'd have to say that it's kind of a lazy way to say "electronica, drum&bass, downtempo, breakbeat, jungle, etc" all in one... I swear, it seems like my brother just listens to big beat music all the time; as well as a large crowd in 'college'.

RPM= Rapid Percussion Music? Taking a shot in the dark.
hmmm... huh?

(Borderline is sooo cool.) Cool, right on.

It was "_______ progressive music", I think. Whatever it was, I bet it was a misnomer...

Thanks re: borderline. That one owes any and all success to the Second Thought original, however.
