Hi - sorry for the delay - I've been focused on building the new version of the site, and hadn't checked here for a few months.
The answer to your question is that we assign points based on the following:
Every Download = 3 points
Every Stream = 2 points
Points are totaled up representing the last 30 days of activity - after this, points are expired.
Charts are also based point data over the last 30 days.
Up, Down and Hot status on the charts is based on comparing the 7 day average to the current 7 day point amount.
The reason why we expire points and not use a running total, is that the top of the charts get 'locked' and loose variation, as well as keeping new talent from rising to the top without expiring points.
We also only track 1 stream and 1 download per IP per day - so redundant listening of a song doesn't effect the overall points nor chart position. Lastly, we don't track when you listen to your own music.

I too had wondered how the charts were compiled, and whether repeated listening to the same song by anyone, or listening to my own songs, would affect the points. That explains it satisfactorily, regards
