Hi there, i work for a linen retailer in South Africa and we would like to play royalty free music in our stores. Would this be music listed as public domain only?

Hi - I suggest you familiarize yourself with the variations of Creative Commons Licensing options that exist. http://creativecommons.org/licenses/
You want to use music in a commercial setting, and you are looking for music where you do not need to compensate the artists. Therefore, the following options can meet your needs - as long as you abide by the licensing terms:
Attribution No Derivatives Attribution Attribution Share Alike Public Domain
You can filter the music on Artistserver by license both at the root "Music" page - accessible from the main menu, as well as from each genre page. Look for the listing of license options near the top section of these pages.
Artists like to know where their music is being used, so I suggest that you contact each artists using their artist page contact form to notify them - you can also make a post here in the forums.
Keep in mind that ArtistServer is not managing the licensing of music on this site, we simply provide a location for music to be shared, and a means to assign a license to a song.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Regards, Gideon - site admin
